Tutorial: Configuring and Enabling the MoneyBrilliant Integration

**Note: This content is intended for system administrators and is technical in nature**

This tutorial will show you how to enable and configure the MoneyBrilliant integration. Please note that to use this integration, you will require a current MoneyBrilliant Partner account.

STEP 1: Obtain your Client ID and Client Secret from MoneyBrilliant

When you sign up for a MoneyBrilliant Partner account, you are assigned a Client ID and a Client secret. These will need to be passed through Practifi to authenticate you as a MoneyBrilliant client. To find your Client ID and Client Secret in MoneyBrilliant:

  1. Log in to https://api.moneybrilliant.com.au/login.
  2. Click Profiles and then My Details.
  3. Either keep this tab open in your browser, or copy the Client ID and Client Secret values and paste them in your Notepad or somewhere safe for use later in the process.

STEP 2: Configure data sources in Skuid

We now need to set up a connection from Practifi to the MoneyBrilliant API by configuring Skuid data sources.

  1. Log into Practifi and select Edit Page from your user menu.
  2. Click Configure.
  3. Select Data Sources.

STEP 3: Creating MoneyBrilliant data sources

This Data source will be configured to communicate with MoneyBrilliant's REST API.

  1. Click New Data Source.
  2. Enter the following details:
  • Data Source Type: REST (from the picklist).
  • Name: MoneyBrilliant.

    3. Click Next Step.

STEP 4: Adding Common URL Parameters

In this step, you will be configuring and authenticating this MoneyBrilliant Data Source. To do this:

  1. Enter the URL as shown: https://api.moneybrilliant.com.au/partners/api/v1/
  2. In the Authentication Method picklist, select No Authentication.
  3. Under the heading URL Parameters to send with every request, there will be a sub heading called Common URL Parameters. Click the little grey box, then Append and enter the following details:
  • Type client_secret and paste the corresponding Client Secret value (from where you saved it in STEP 1).
  • Click the grey box again and then Append and type client_id and paste the corresponding Client ID (again, from where you saved it in STEP 1).

STEP 5: Adding headers to send with every request

This step specifies the parameters that are necessary to receive the appropriate format of data from MoneyBrilliant.

  1. In this same window, click Headers to send with every request.
  2. Copy and paste the following exact values where the words empty object appear: (click the little grey box and then Append to create a new line)
  • Content-Type: application/json
  • Accept: application/json
  • Authorization: Bearer 645c18e9d9938469b43e38e039689e24745789b350a2e501d515a95cea2291c8

     3. Click Save Data Source.

     4. Click OK if you receive a popup about a remote site being created.

     5. You have now configured the data source for the primary contact in a Household.

STEP 6: Configure the Data Source for Partner contacts

You now need to obtain data for the partner account that is associated to the Household. To do this, repeat Steps 2 to 5 for a new Data Source, but this time, call it MoneyBrilliant_Partner.

STEP 7: Enabling a combined view of Asset and Liability data

We now need to ensure any Assets and Liabilities that are already in Practifi are grouped with the data now coming in from MoneyBrilliant, so we can obtain a net worth position.

  1. From your user menu, select Settings.
  2. From Categories, change the Client Stage filter to Portfolio Holding Stage.
  3. Add the group code PHGSACTIVE for both the Owned and Financed categories.

STEP 8: Activate the MoneyBrilliant Wizard View Page
