Overview
The Create an Entity wizard streamlines the process of bringing new clients and prospects into Practifi. Before the wizard, creating entities required navigating multiple steps: creating an Individual, Household, or Organization record, then promoting it to a prospect, and later to a client. The wizard consolidates this into a single, guided experience with clear progress indicators, smart defaults, and built-in promotion flows.
This article explains how to add the Create an Entity action to your organization's Global Actions menu and configure Service Types to appear in the wizard's promotion flows. For information on configuring the fields, entity types, relationship types, and Group settings available within the wizard, see Configuring Entity Management Settings. For information on how end users interact with the wizard, please consult our Creating Entities Using the Create an Entity Wizard article.

Adding the Create an Entity Global Action
If your organization has customized the Global Actions menu, you can manually add the Create an Entity action by doing the following:

On the Publisher Layouts page, click the Edit link next to Global Layout.
-
On the Global Layout page, select Mobile & Lightning Actions.

Making Service Types Available in the Wizard
When a user creates an entity using the Create an Entity wizard, services are surfaced during promotion flows based on their availability settings. If you want a service to be presented to users when promoting an entity to a prospect or client in the Create an Entity wizard, you must modify the Available In setting on the Service Type record.
-
Click the App Launcher and select Settings.
-
In the Settings app, click the Navigation menu and select Service Types.
-
On the Service Types page, click the hyperlinked name of the Service Type you want to edit. The Service Type record opens in a new tab.
-
On the Service Type record page, click the Edit button. A new window opens.
- Under Service Settings, click the Available in picklist and select one of the following:
- New Deal action: The service will be displayed when promoting an entity to a prospect.
- New Service action: The service will be displayed when promoting an entity to a client.
-
New Deal and New Service actions: The service will be displayed when promoting to a prospect or a client.
- Click Save.
Required Permissions for Entity Management Settings
The Entity Management page in the Settings app controls the Create an Entity wizard, including which fields appear on entity and member forms, which entity and relationship types are available, whether Groups are enabled, and how your organization handles updates from Practifi. Accessing and modifying these settings requires the following:
- The Practifi - Assigned Apps - Settings and Practifi - Entity Management Admin permission sets must both be assigned to the user.
- Only users with the Administrator profile can modify Entity Management settings. Users with the Super User profile cannot update these settings, even when the Practifi - Entity Management Admin permission set is assigned, due to a Salesforce platform restriction.
Please note: For comprehensive details on setting up the Create an Entity wizard through Entity Management settings, including field configuration, entity and relationship type controls, Groups, and governance options, refer to Configuring Entity Management Settings.
