Configuring Sentir Agents

Follow

This article is intended for System Administrators. The settings described here are only accessible to users with administrator permissions.

Overview

Agents are the AI specialists built into Sentir. Each agent brings a distinct area of expertise — estate planning, tax strategy, retirement planning, and more — and works continuously in the background to analyze your firm's client data. Their outputs appear as Dispatches on Client, Group, and Division records and as Noticeboard alerts.

Agents are organized into three groups: Analytical Perspectives, Domain Experts, and Operational Context. Each agent comes pre-configured with its own instructions and a curated knowledge base and can be restricted to specific divisions if your firm needs it.

This article covers how to navigate the Agents settings, review agent instructions and knowledge sources, configure division access, toggle capabilities, and monitor agent activity.

Please note: Accessing agent settings requires the Settings permission under Apps & APIs in Access Management, the Manage Agents permission set under Feature Administration in Access Management, and the System Administrator profile.

To access agent settings:

  1. Click the App Launcher and select the Settings app.

  2. From the Settings app, click the Navigation Menu and select Intelligence Features.

    \
  3. In the left navigation rail, click Agents.

The Agents section is divided into two panels. The left panel lists all agents organized by group, with a search box to filter by name. The right panel shows the details for the selected agent: instructions, knowledge sources, division access, and capabilities.

After making any changes on this page, click Save in the bottom-right corner to apply them.

The Agent Roster

Sentir includes agents organized into three groups. Each group reflects the type of expertise its agents bring to client analysis.

Analytical Perspectives

These agents analyze client relationships through behavioral, relational, and strategic lenses:

  • Emotional Intelligence Advisor — Analyzes communication records and interaction patterns to surface signals about the tone, trust, and emotional trajectory of the advisor-client relationship.
  • Engagement Advisor — Tracks relationship vitality by analyzing cadence, responsiveness, and interaction patterns to identify whether a client relationship is strengthening, stable, or cooling.
  • Growth Strategist — Surfaces wallet-share opportunities, referral dynamics, and relationship-deepening signals by identifying unmet needs and growth potential within existing client relationships.
  • Intergenerational Advisor — Identifies multi-generational family dynamics and wealth-continuity signals, including next-gen engagement and transition readiness across family generations.
  • Life Events Advisor — Detects age-keyed milestones, family-composition changes, and life transitions to surface planning windows before they close.

Domain Experts

These agents bring specialist knowledge in specific financial planning disciplines:

  • Business Ownership Advisor — Analyzes business-owner clients for exit readiness, enterprise value signals, and the intersection of business decisions with personal financial outcomes.
  • Estate Planning Assistant — Reviews estate planning signals including trust structures, beneficiary currency, and document recency to identify gaps and timing considerations for wealth transfer.
  • Financial Planning Assistant — Provides an integrated view of the client's financial picture, connecting cash flow, net worth, goals, and planning coherence across all domains.
  • Investment Advisor — Analyzes portfolio composition, risk-return dynamics, and asset allocation relative to the client's investment policy and suitability profile.
  • Philanthropy Advisor — Identifies charitable-planning signals and surfaces opportunities for values-aligned giving strategies, including donor-advised funds, foundations, and charitable trusts.
  • Retirement Planning Assistant — Assesses retirement readiness by analyzing income sequencing, longevity risk, account balances, and the accumulation-to-decumulation transition.
  • Risk and Insurance Advisor — Identifies gaps in risk coverage and liability exposure across life, disability, property, and liability insurance relative to the client's asset profile.
  • Tax Planning Assistant — Surfaces tax planning signals including bracket positioning, timing opportunities, and inter-year strategies based on the client's income, assets, and life events.

Operational Context

These agents focus on the operational and relational dimensions of client management:

  • Practice Manager — Monitors the operational state of each client relationship, surfacing open tasks, process health, and workflow risk to keep commitments on track.
  • Relationship Historian — Constructs the longitudinal timeline of each client relationship, surfacing recency, rhythm, and engagement gaps across the full arc of the relationship.
  • Relationship Navigator — Maps the factual structure of each client relationship, including household composition, entity hierarchy, and the roles of external parties such as attorneys, CPAs, and trustees.

Reviewing Agent Instructions

Each agent operates according to its own set of instructions that define its role, voice, and the boundaries of its expertise. These instructions determine how the agent approaches client data and what kinds of insights it surfaces.

To review an agent's instructions:

  1. From the Agents section, select an agent in the left panel.
  2. The agent's instructions appear at the top of the right panel, under the agent's name.

Please note: Agent instructions are pre-configured and are not editable.

Knowledge Sources

Each agent draws on a curated set of knowledge sources when analyzing client data. Sources include external references such as legislation, regulation, case law, official documents from advisory bodies, and academic journal articles, as well as internal records relevant to the agent's domain.

The Knowledge component on each agent's detail panel shows the sources available to that agent. Sources appear as pills with icons and titles.

Click on any hyperlinked source in the Knowledge component to open the URL in a new tab or view the document in a new window. When viewing a document, you can click the Download button in the window to save it.

Please note: Knowledge sources are pre-configured and are currently read-only. The ability for firms to upload their own knowledge documents will be available in a future release.

Division Access

By default, each agent is available to all divisions in your organization. If your firm serves distinct client segments or business units through separate divisions, you can restrict an agent to operate only within specific divisions.

To restrict an agent to specific divisions:

  1. Select the agent from the left panel.
  2. In the Division Access component on the right, click the plus icon.

  3. Select one or more divisions from the drop-down menu.

  4. Click Save at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

Please note: If no divisions are selected, the agent remains available to all divisions. The Division Access component displays an Available to all divisions message when no restrictions are in place.

Capabilities

Each agent has a set of capabilities that control what it can do within Sentir. Capabilities can be toggled on or off for individual agents to match your firm's workflows and service offering. You can also click the caret to expand a capability and view a description.

The following capabilities are currently available:

  • Write Entity Dispatches — The agent contributes its analysis to Dispatches authored for individual entities: households, organizations, and individuals.
  • Write Group, Advisor, and Division Dispatches — The agent contributes its analysis to Dispatches authored for entity groups, advisors, and divisions, surfacing patterns and aggregates across the entities in that book.

Please note: Group, advisor, and division Dispatches are synthesized from the entity-level Dispatches below them. If the Write Entity Dispatches capability is disabled for an agent, the higher-level Dispatches for that agent will have no entity contributions to draw from. Advisor and division Dispatches run one cycle behind entity Dispatches, meaning they aggregate from the most recently completed entity-level run rather than generating fresh from record data each time.

To toggle a capability on or off:

  1. Select the agent from the left panel.
  2. Scroll down to the Capabilities component, then click the toggle next to the capability you want to enable or disable.

Monitoring Agent Activity

The Intelligence Features page includes two tabs for monitoring agent performance across your organization: Monitoring and Audit Trail. These give administrators visibility into agent health and a record of agent actions over time.

Monitoring Dashboard

The Monitoring tab shows a summary dashboard of agent performance across your organization. Three metric tiles appear at the top of the page:

  • Refreshes in last 24 hours — The number of agent refresh runs completed in the past 24 hours.
  • Failures in last 7 days — The number of agent runs that failed in the last 7 days. This tile is highlighted when failures are present.
  • 7-day success rate — The percentage of agent runs that completed successfully in the last 7 days.

Below the tiles, a list view shows individual runs with the following columns: Entity/Scope, Process, State, Started, Duration, and Failure Reason. Each row represents one workflow run, meaning the batch of Dispatches generated for that entity, user, or division in a single execution. Use the Search field to filter runs by entity name. A Refresh icon appears at the end of the filter row to reload the latest data. You can also filter by:

  • Process — Filter by a specific process or view all. Available processes include Entity Dispatches, Entity Summary, Active Form Summary, Project Status, Front Office Home Dispatches, User Dispatches, Entity Group Dispatches, and Division Dispatches.
  • State — All states, Current, Refreshing, or Failed.
  • Time frame — Last 7 days, Last 14 days (default), or Last 30 days.

If a data source fails to load, a dismissible warning banner appears at the top of the tab. The rest of the dashboard still renders normally when this occurs.

Audit Trail

The Audit Trail tab logs every configuration change made to your agent setup, including knowledge references being attached, capabilities being toggled, and rules being created or modified. Use it to track who changed what and when.

The table includes the following columns:

  • When — The date and time of the change.
  • Who — The user who made the change.
  • Object — The type of record affected, shown as a tag (e.g., Knowledge Reference, Agent, Capability).
  • Record — The specific record affected (e.g., the agent and knowledge source name).
  • Field — The field or action that changed (e.g., Record created).
  • Old value — The previous value, if applicable.
  • New value — The updated value (e.g., Attached).

You can filter the Audit Trail by:

  • Object type — All objects (default), or a specific object type.
  • User — All users (default), or a specific user.
  • Time frame — Last 30 days (default), or other available ranges.

The Rules Tab

The Rules tab is where you configure the contextual rules that tune how agents frame their guidance in Dispatches. Rules do not change the safety constraints built into each agent, but they adjust how agents handle firm-specific context, such as your registration type.

The Rules tab uses the same two-panel layout as the Agents tab. The left panel lists all rules organized by scope (for example, Firm-Wide), with a search field, a filter icon, and a New button for creating additional rules. The right panel shows the detail and configuration options for the selected rule.

Sentir includes one pre-built firm-wide rule:

Registration Type

The Registration Type rule controls how Dispatches frame compliance caution across your organization. Select the option that matches your firm's registration:

  • Investment adviser only — The firm operates solely as a registered investment adviser.
  • Dual-registered — The firm operates under both investment-adviser and broker-dealer registrations. When this option is selected, agents frame observations that touch product selection or compensation as considerations for the advisor to weigh against the applicable best-interest standard, rather than as direct recommendations.

The Resulting Caution Guidance section below the options previews the exact language agents will apply based on your selection.

Each rule also includes an + Add division override option, allowing you to apply a different setting for specific divisions within your firm.

After making any changes on this page, click Save in the bottom-right corner to apply them.

Creating Custom Rules

To create a new rule, click the New button to the right of the search field.

Fill out the following fields in the New Rule window:

  • Name — A label for the rule, used to identify it in the rules list.
  • Status — Set to Draft by default. You can change this to Published to activate the rule immediately upon saving.
  • Rule — A free-text field where you describe the guidance this rule should apply. Write this as a clear instruction for how agents should adjust their framing or output in the specified scope.
  • Who does this rule apply to? — Choose one of four scopes: The whole firm, A specific division, A specific user, or A specific entity.

Click Save to save the rule or Cancel to discard it.
