Overview
Chat settings in Sentir give administrators control over the prompt templates users see in Chat, the data sources Chat draws on to generate responses, and how new conversations are opened. These settings are available in the Chat section of the Intelligence Features page in the Settings app.
This article covers each setting type available within the Chat section: Prompt Templates, Sources, and Other Settings.
Accessing Chat Settings
To navigate to Chat settings:
-
Click the App Launcher and select the Settings app.
-
From the Settings app, click the Navigation Menu and select Intelligence Features.
-
In the left navigation rail, click Chat.
The Chat section contains three tabs: Prompt Templates, Sources, and Other Settings.
Prompt Templates
Prompt templates give users a head start when starting a Chat conversation. Templates appear as clickable pills below the text input when no active conversation is in progress. When a user selects a template, it's sent as the first message in a new conversation.
The Prompt Templates tab is divided into two panels: a template list on the left and a detail view on the right. The left panel includes a search bar, a category filter drop-down, and a New button. Selecting a template in the list opens the detail panel, which shows the template's name, category badge, and status badge, along with the prompt text, which divisions can access it, and when it was created and last modified.
Pre-Built Templates
Sentir includes a set of pre-built prompt templates that are active by default. The following templates appear as standalone quick prompts in the Chat interface:
- Call Prep: Prepares an advisor for an upcoming client conversation by pulling together recent activity, outstanding items, and key relationship context.
- Catch Me Up: Summarizes recent developments and interactions for a relationship the advisor hasn't engaged with recently.
- Market Context: Surfaces relevant market news and developments connected to the client's specific situation.
The following templates are grouped under the More category and appear when a user selects the More option:
- Client Overview: Provides a comprehensive overview of the relationship, including financial position, services, and key details.
- Draft Follow-Up: Drafts a follow-up communication grounded in recent meeting notes and discussion points.
- Open Items: Identifies outstanding tasks, commitments, and action items across the relationship.
- Quarterly Review Prep: Assembles the context an advisor needs to prepare for a quarterly review meeting.
Administrators can edit, clone, or deactivate any pre-built template, and create additional templates to suit their firm's workflows.
Creating a Template
To create a new prompt template:
-
On the Prompt Templates tab, click the New button.
-
On the Basic Details tab in the New Template window, complete the following fields:
- Name: The label that will appear in the Chat interface.
- Status: Active is selected by default. Select Draft if you're not ready to make the template visible to users.
- Category (optional): Select a category to group the template under a drop-down in the Chat interface. Templates without a category appear as standalone items.
- Prompt Text: The full question or instruction sent to Chat when a user selects the template. This can be longer and more detailed than the template name.
- To restrict the template to specific divisions, click the Division Access tab and configure access as needed. See Division Visibility below for more information.
- Click Create.
Cloning a Template
Cloning is a quick way to create a variation of an existing template. To clone a template, select it from the list and click the Clone button in the detail panel header.
The cloned template appears in the list with "(Copy)" appended to its name. Cloned templates have a Draft status by default. Select the cloned template, then click the Edit button to update its name, prompt text, category, or status.
Editing a Template
To edit a template, select it from the list and click the Edit button in the detail panel header. An Edit Template window opens where you can update the name, prompt text, category, and status. Click Save when done.
Template Categories
Categories group related templates under a single drop-down in the Chat interface, which keeps the prompt area organized when you have many templates. Templates without a category assignment appear as standalone items.
The following categories are available by default:
- Client Communication
- Client Onboarding
- Compliance & Regulatory
- Financial Analysis
- Internal
- Meeting Follow-up
- Meeting Preparation
- More
- Reporting
- Research
The More category is a built-in catch-all option for templates you want grouped without assigning them to a more specific category. Categories are a fixed set of options and are not managed separately within Chat settings.
Division Visibility
By default, a new template is visible to all users across your organization. If your firm has multiple divisions, you can restrict a template so that only users in specific divisions can see it.
To manage division access, use the Division Access tab when creating or editing a template.
You can also click the Edit button on the Division Access card in a template's detail panel to open the Configure Access window and select the divisions you want to restrict access to.
A prompt template is visible to any user who belongs to at least one assigned division.
Sources
The Sources tab controls two types of data Chat can draw on when generating responses: your organization's CRM conversations and notes, and external news and reference feeds.
Allow Chat to Access Conversations and Notes
By default, Chat answers questions using live structured CRM data such as record fields, services, deals, and household details. Administrators can extend Chat's reach to include historical unstructured data by enabling the Allow Chat to Access conversations and notes setting.
When enabled, this setting indexes Notes, Feed posts, and email messages, giving Chat access to rich historical context. New records are automatically indexed within 5–10 minutes after the initial setup.
If this setting is not already enabled in your organization, you can turn it on by doing the following:
-
Navigate to Chat settings and click the Sources tab.
-
In the Allow Chat to access conversations and notes section, click Okay to allow Chat to access unstructured CRM data.
- The import process begins, and a progress indicator appears. Chat remains fully usable during the initial migration. Users can continue asking questions using live structured data throughout the process.
When migration is complete, a success message appears on the Users tab of the Intelligence Features Settings page.
Once activated, two additional controls become available:
- Resync: Manually triggers a full data re-send. Use this if information appears to be missing from Chat (e.g., after a bulk data import).
- Deactivate: Turns off the feature, removes all indexed data, and deletes the scheduled backup jobs associated with data indexing. Re-enabling requires the full migration to run again; the scheduled jobs will be recreated automatically.
Please note: Deactivating Allow Chat to access conversations and notes permanently removes all indexed data. Re-enabling the setting requires the full historical data migration to run again.
External Sources
External Sources settings let you control which external news and reference feeds Chat can draw on when generating responses. Configuring this list helps align Chat's knowledge base with your firm's preferences and compliance posture.
Sources are organized in a hierarchical tree. The top-level categories are:
- Business & Financial News: Financial news publications and wire services.
- General News: Major news outlets and wire services.
- Industry News: Wealth management and financial services trade publications.
- Regional News: News sources organized by geographic region.
Click the caret to the left of a category or subcategory to expand it and reveal individual sources.
Each source has a checkbox. Check a source to enable it; uncheck it to disable it. You can also check or uncheck a category checkbox to enable or disable all sources within that group at once. At the top of the tree, a Select All checkbox enables or disables every source simultaneously. A counter next to the header shows how many sources are currently enabled out of the total available.
All sources are enabled by default. External source configuration applies across your organization.
When you make changes to source selections, a Save Changes button appears at the bottom of the External Sources area. Your changes are not applied until you click Save Changes. If you navigate away without saving, your changes will be lost.
Other Settings
The Other Settings tab contains one setting: Open new conversations in the background. This controls whether new Chat conversations open in a background tab. When enabled, the tab is highlighted once a response is ready, allowing users to continue working while Chat generates a response.
This setting is enabled by default. Disable this setting to open new conversations in the foreground immediately.
If you adjust this setting, remember to click Save Changes at the bottom of the screen to preserve the change.
