Managing Influence

Overview

As your firm builds relationships with influencers, add influencer segments to their record definitions to consistently identify and prioritize the relationships most likely to drive new business. These segments are available in Standard, Important, and Critical values to capture the levels of influence a Household, Organization, or Individual has toward bringing new business to your firm. For additional information about influence, please consult our Understanding Influence article.

Adding an Influencer Segment

Once a client, prospect, or provider has been determined to be an influencer by your firm, you can add an influencer segment to their Household, Individual, or Organization record. Adding an influencer segment to the record allows you to draw analytics from your influencer list and keep a close eye on the connections that may bring new business into your firm.

The user decides which segment makes the most sense based on the client, prospect, or provider's situation with your firm. Depending on your firm's needs, these levels can be defined by total AUM, overall market presence, or the potential for new business partnerships. Within Practifi, you have three influencer segments: CriticalImportant, and Standard

To add an influencer segment to a record in Practifi:

  1. Navigate to the Household, Organization, or Individual record to which you want to add the influencer segment.
  2. Click the Actions menu located on the record side panel.

  3. Select Add Influencer Segment from the drop-down menu. Selecting this option will open a pop-up menu on your screen.

  4. Select Standard, Important, or Critical from the Influencer Segment drop-down menu.

  5. Click Finish to finalize the addition of the segment.

  6. Once the influencer segment has been selected, it will display as part of the definitions beneath the record name.

Changing an Influencer Segment

Once an influencer segment has been added to a record, it can be modified to reflect any changes in their level of influence on your firm. For example, a client may have been previously marked as an Important influencer in your organization, but over the last year, they have brought substantial business to your firm. In this case, the record could be modified to include a Critical influencer segment to better capture their influence on your firm's business.

To change an influencer segment:

  1. Navigate to the Key Entity record where you would like to modify the influencer segment.
  2. Click the Actions menu located on the record side panel.

  3. Select Change Influencer Segment from the drop-down menu. This will open a pop-up menu that lets you modify the influencer segment.

  4. Choose the new influencer segment from the drop-down menu and click Finish to attach the new influencer segment. Changing the influencer segment will also change the definition under their name to reflect the new segment.

Deleting an Influencer Segment

Occasionally, a record in your organization may no longer need an influencer segment attached to the record. This can occur when a client, prospect, or provider's influence no longer impacts your firm's business.

To remove an influencer segment from a record:

  1. Navigate to the record where you would like to modify the influencer segment.
  2. Click the Actions menu located on the record side panel.

  3. Select Remove Influencer Segment from the drop-down menu. This will automatically remove the influencer segment attached to the record, and it will no longer appear in the record's definitions.

Viewing Influencers

You can view influencers in a list format by selecting the Influence page from the Navigation menu. This page displays all Key Entity records with an influencer segment defined on their record in a filterable table, giving you a single view of every influencer connection across your firm for easy reference and analysis.

Here are some things you can do on the Influence page:

  1. Change your data table by selecting options in this drop-down, such as My Influencers or My Division's Influencers. Data table availability will vary based on the app context.
  2. Search the table with the search bar to find a specific influencer by entering information from any table column displayed.
  3. Filter the table to narrow down the results displayed on the table to a specific influencer segment, such as Critical, using this drop-down filter. The Other Definitions filter can be used to filter providers, making it easy to see their records and dive deeper into their impact on your firm's business.
  4. Export the table to a CSV file by clicking Export as CSV. This will export the table as it is currently displayed, including any filters applied.
  5. Clicking on the hyperlinked entity name will take you directly to the Key Entity record to view their information more deeply.
  6. Perform record actions such as editing, deleting, changing an influencer segment, or creating a new task by selecting the options in this drop-down.
