Adding a Relationship on a Key Entity Record

Follow

Overview

An entity relationship in Practifi is a link between a Key Entity (Household, Organization, or Individual) and another Key Entity or Contact. A Key Entity can have multiple relationship roles with other Key Entities or Contacts within your Practifi organization. For example, an Individual can be a Referrer for one entity and an Attorney for another, allowing you to reflect the full range of roles a single person plays across your firm.

This is different than a member relationship, where a person is part of a Household or Organization and can have the member type of Primary Contact, Spouse, Dependent, or Employee. These types of relationships are covered in our Adding a New Member article. However, the process to create relationships between entities follows similar steps to adding a new member relationship to an entity.

You can relate Key Entities with other Key Entity records or with Contact records. Relationships can be created in one of two directions: from the Key Entity to another record, or from another record to the Key Entity. For example, an Organization might refer a prospect to your firm, or another Key Entity might have referred them. This article outlines both methods of adding Key Entity relationships.
