Overview
The Addepar integration syncs portfolio data, assets, holdings, and performance metrics from Addepar directly into Practifi. Addepar is a wealth management technology platform that aggregates data across all asset types, including alternatives, such as private equity and real estate. Once a client is linked, their accounts, holdings, AUM, revenue, and performance metrics are pulled into the Household record and kept up to date through daily automated syncs.
This is an inbound-only integration: data flows from Addepar into Practifi. Your Practifi records remain the system of record for all client information stored in your Salesforce org. This article covers how to link clients, what data syncs, and how to work with Addepar data in Practifi. For details on setting up the integration, see our article on Enabling the Addepar Integration.

Understanding How the Integration Works
The integration pulls data from Addepar into Practifi on a daily schedule, typically running overnight. Your System Administrator configures the timing. In addition to the scheduled sync, users with the appropriate permission set can trigger a manual sync at any time from the Integrations tab.
Data flows in one direction only: from Addepar to Practifi. This includes portfolios, accounts, assets, holdings, performance metrics, and revenue data. Changes you make to client records in Practifi do not sync back to Addepar.

Viewing Addepar Data in Practifi
Once the integration is configured and clients are linked, Addepar data appears in several locations within Practifi.
Integrations Tab
The Integrations tab provides a central view of all Addepar portfolios available to your organization. From this tab, you can see which clients have been linked, view sync status, and trigger manual syncs. To access it, click the App Launcher and search for Integrations.
Data Management App
The Data Management app includes an Addepar tab that displays all linked clients, their sync status, and the available actions to link or unlink them. This is the primary interface for managing client-portfolio connections.
Client Household Detail Page
When viewing a linked client’s Household record, you can see the associated financial data directly on the record, including portfolio information, assets, holdings, and performance metrics. This allows advisors to review client portfolio data without switching to Addepar.
Linking and Unlinking Clients
Before Addepar data syncs to a client’s Practifi record, you must link that client to their corresponding portfolio in Addepar. This is a one-time step per client.
Linking a Client
- Navigate to the Data Management app in Practifi.
- Click the Addepar Portfolios tab.
- If needed, change the list view from Recently Viewed to All.
- Locate the client you would like to link on this list. They will have an empty Client field value. Select the caret icon on their row.
- Select Edit from the drop-down menu.
- In the pop-up, search for the related Practifi client record in the Client field.
- Click Save to finalize the link. The system then works to retrieve Assets and Holdings of the client from Addepar.
After linking, every scheduled or manual sync automatically pulls that client’s data from Addepar into their Practifi record.
Unlinking a Client
- Go to the Data Management app and open the Addepar Portfolios tab.
- If needed, change the list view from Recently Viewed to All.
- Locate the client you would like to unlink on this list. Select the caret icon on their row.
- Select Edit from the drop-down menu.
- Clear the Household value field.
- Click Save.
When you unlink a client, all associated assets are set to a Disposed stage, and all holdings are marked as Disposed. The records remain in Practifi for historical reference but are excluded from AUM calculations.
Please note: Linking is a one-time configuration step. Once linked, the portfolio remains associated with that client unless you manually unlink it.
Working With Assets and Holdings
The integration synchronizes two levels of financial data from Addepar:
Assets represent financial accounts from Addepar, such as investment, retirement, and custodial accounts. Each asset record includes the account name, account number, custodian information, current value, and performance metrics like time-weighted returns. Assets display on the client’s Household record.
Holdings represent the specific securities, funds, or positions within an asset. Holding records include security names, quantities, prices, and market values. This level of detail shows you the composition of each account.
Asset values are calculated based on their underlying holdings. When holdings data is available, Practifi rolls up the total value. For assets without individual holding records, Practifi uses the current value provided by Addepar.
Revenue data is also synced from Addepar and calculated based on your firm’s billing structure as configured in Addepar. Revenue figures appear on asset records and roll up to the Household level.
Trust and Entity Sync
If your firm manages trusts, holding companies, or other complex entity structures in Addepar, the integration can sync these hierarchies into Practifi. When enabled, trust entities and their ownership relationships are reflected in your Practifi records, allowing your team to see the full picture of how client assets are structured across entities.
Trust sync is an optional feature configured during setup. Contact your System Administrator to confirm whether it is enabled for your organization.
Addepar Widgets
Addepar Widgets are embedded views that display Addepar data directly within Practifi page layouts. These widgets can show portfolio summaries, performance charts, and other Addepar visualizations without requiring you to log in to Addepar separately. Your System Administrator works with Practifi to configure which widgets appear and where they are placed on the page layout.
Frequently Asked Questions
When Does Data Sync From Addepar?
Scheduled syncs run daily, typically overnight. Your System Administrator configures the timing. You can also trigger a manual sync from the Integrations tab at any time.
Why Don’t I See Addepar Data for a Client?
The client must be linked to their Addepar portfolio before data syncs. If the client is linked and you still don’t see data, try triggering a manual sync from the Integrations tab. If data still doesn’t appear, contact your System Administrator to check the sync status and integration logs.
Can I Edit Addepar Data in Practifi?
No. The integration is inbound only. Data from Addepar is read-only in Practifi and will be overwritten during the next sync if manually changed. Make any corrections to portfolio data in Addepar.
What Happens When I Unlink a Client?
All assets are set to a Disposed stage, and all holdings are marked as Disposed. The records remain in Practifi for historical reference but are excluded from AUM calculations. Notes fields are updated to indicate the portfolio is no longer available in Addepar.
Does the Integration Support Complex Entity Structures?
Yes. If trust sync is enabled, the integration can synchronize trust entities, holding companies, and ownership hierarchies into Practifi. Contact your System Administrator to confirm whether this feature is active for your organization.
What Are the API Rate Limits?
Addepar enforces rate limits of 50 API calls per 15 minutes and 1,000 calls per 24 hours per Firm ID. Your System Administrator will need to manage sync scheduling to stay within these thresholds. If you trigger manual syncs frequently, be aware that each sync consumes API calls.
