Using Add Work in Sentir

Follow

Overview

Creating Work Items (Project, Process, and Task records) in Sentir starts with the Add Work action. Instead of hunting for a separate button for every kind of work, you use a single action to create a task, a multi-step process, or a full project encompassing multiple tasks and processes. That means less time deciding where to click and more time getting the work itself set up.

Think of the Add Work window as a cart: you add the items you want, fill in the essentials, and submit them together. Pull from your firm's templates to move quickly, add a one-off item from scratch when nothing fits, or mix both in the same session. You can add a single item or stage several at once, so whether you're logging one follow-up task or spinning up a full onboarding project, the workflow stays the same.

This article explains where to find the Add Work button, what you can create depending on where you start, and how to add a single item or multiple items at once.

Accessing Add Work

Add Work is available from several places in Sentir. Where you open it determines which templates are available and what types of work you can create.

  • Global Actions menu: Click the Global Actions icon (the plus icon) in the top navigation bar and select Add Work. This is available from any page. Templates configured for Global Actions appear in the left panel; record-specific templates do not.

  • Home page: Click the Add Work button on the Home page. Behaves the same as the Global Actions menu.
  • Entity record: Click Add Work in the record header, or navigate to the Records tab and select Projects, Processes, or Tasks under the Work heading in the left navigation rail. Each of these list views has its own Add Work button. Record-specific templates are available here, and the work is automatically linked to the entity.

  • Project record: Click Add Work on a Project record to add tasks, processes, or sub-projects directly into that project.

  • Process record: Click Add Work on a Process record to add an ad-hoc task to that process. No templates are available from a Process record, and only tasks can be created here. Processes can't be nested inside other processes, and projects can't be added from this context.

Adding a Single Item

  1. From one of the locations described in Accessing Add Work, click Add Work. The Add Work window opens in Single item mode by default.
  2. Select a template from the list on the left to populate its details in the right panel, or click + New Task or + New Project to create an ad-hoc item from scratch.
  3. Fill in or edit the details for the item on the right.

  4. Click Create to create the work and attach it to the record.

Adding Multiple Items

To create several work items in a single session, select Multiple items using the toggle at the top of the Add Work window. In this mode, each template card in the left panel shows a plus icon. Click the plus icon on a template to stage it. For Process Templates, you can click Details to view its fields or Work Items to view its underlying processes and/or tasks.

Keep clicking plus icons to add more items. Each staged item in the right panel shows its own fields, such as Name, Assignee, Due Date, and Description, which you can configure before creating. If you stage a Project Template, its included work items (processes and tasks) appear nested within it, each with their own configurable details. Click the X on any staged item to remove it.

When you're ready, click the Create [X] items button at the bottom. The button shows the total number of records to be created, including nested work items in any staged projects.
