Understanding the Home Page

Overview

The Home page in Practifi is a summary dashboard that displays tasks assigned to you and provides graphical representations of key metrics, giving you a single place to see where your attention is needed each day. The features and display of the Home page will depend on the app assigned to your user profile. For all apps, the Home page will feature a row of task-focused tiles that give you a snapshot of the work that needs to be completed.

This article provides an overview of the features available on the Home page, including tiles, charts, agenda, and Feed mentions. For additional information on using these features, please refer to our Using the Home Page article.

Using Home Page Tiles

The Home page aggregates all the activity within the firm and distills the key elements into a series of tiles, surfacing what needs attention without requiring you to dig through detailed record lists. Tiles look for records that match specific criteria and summarize a single value across them, typically by counting the number of records found. They are displayed in groups, called tile rows, having similar tiles displayed together to keep day-to-day work organized.

Tile rows can be expanded or collapsed to bring the included tiles in and out of focus. For example, clicking the My Work tile row name collapses the tile row, hiding all included tiles. The tile row name can be clicked again to display the tiles it includes.

Clicking a tile reveals a tile table, which contains the related records returned by the tile. If a tile returns no related records, it will display a zero and cannot be expanded. The tile table includes filters to refine the table's results. These filters are multi-select, meaning you can apply multiple values simultaneously to narrow results to exactly what you need to see. They display all values by default. To learn more about tile table filters, refer to our Using the Home Page article.

Tile tables also include row actions, accessible via the overflow menu on the right side of each row. Clicking the caret icon displays a drop-down menu with options to edit individual records, such as changing a task's owner or deleting a record.

Selecting one or more records in the tile table provides access to mass actions. These are displayed as buttons at the top of the tile table when multiple records are selected. Using these mass actions enables you to update multiple records simultaneously, saving time on routine bulk updates. For example, select multiple task records in the tile table, then click the Complete Tasks option to close them simultaneously.

Observing Key Metrics With Charts

Practifi ships with charts of various types and includes an assortment of them on each app's home page, consolidating data from across your firm, so trends and patterns are easy to identify at a glance. Similarly to tiles, a list of related records can be exposed inline by clicking the View data table option in a chart's settings menu. Charts are interactive, so you can click segments to focus on the related records. Some charts open a drill-down chart when you click a segment, displaying a secondary visualization of the records within the selected segment.

Chart record tables support filtering, searching, and sorting to drill into more detail. Much like tiles, chart tables also include row actions. Clicking the caret icon on the right side of each row in the chart table opens a drop-down menu with options to edit the individual record in the chart.

Selecting multiple records within a chart table also provides access to mass actions. Similar to tile tables, these are displayed as buttons at the top of the chart table when multiple records have been selected. Using these mass actions enables you to update multiple records simultaneously.

Viewing Today's Agenda

The agenda tab, located on the left side of the home page, displays all events and tasks due today without requiring the user to open specific tiles. This tab provides a quick snapshot of your day's work and highlights important events needing your attention.

Events and tasks within this section include hyperlinks to their records, allowing you to click an event or task name to open the corresponding record in your Practifi organization. Tasks also display a hyperlink to the related record, which you can click to open it within your organization.

Clicking the caret icon in the tasks section opens a drop-down menu of task views to select. This lets you see the view that is most effective for your work. For example, select the Delegated Tasks view to gain insight into tasks you have delegated to other members of your firm, or select All Overdue to see tasks that have passed their due date and require completion.

Clicking the View Calendar option in the Agenda section opens your calendar view in Practifi, displaying a broader view of events beyond today's scheduled events. The Tasks section includes a View All option that opens your Tasks page and displays tasks in a list view.

Viewing Feed Mentions

The Mentions tab in the left-side pane of the home page displays any Feed posts where you've been @-mentioned by username, helping you stay engaged in conversations that involve you. This tab can be accessed by clicking the Mentions tab within the side pane.

You can like or comment on posts in this section. Within each Feed post, click the caret icon and select Bookmark to add it to your Feed Bookmarks. This allows you to easily access the post later. Depending on your permissions, you can edit or delete posts by selecting these options from the drop-down menu on the caret icon.
